Mercy Care’s Annual Holiday Memorial Service, which culminates with its Tree Lighting Celebration, is a special event for young and old. It is a time to remember or honor a loved one during an uplifting, reverent and music-filled ceremony. This year’s service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th at Beach Church, located at 557 George Bishop Parkway, Myrtle Beach. All community members are welcome to attend.
The holiday season, with all of its joy, is often a time of sadness for those remembering loved ones who have died, whether recently or long ago. Many people who attend Mercy’s annual Memorial Service have done so for years as a special way to remember their loved one. Mercy’s Bereavement Coordinator, Chaplain Loran Bulla, will lead attendees in a loving service of devotion and prayer. A moment of silence will also be offered for reflection of the loved ones that are no longer with us. The service will feature music by the Sweet Adelines and guitarist, Glen Taylor.
“Grieving during the holidays is so difficult. Our traditional memorial provides an excellent way to gather and share our experience and honor those who have been a part of our lives,” said Chaplain Bulla. Many people in our community are affected by the loss of a friend, family member or loved one. To honor them, especially during the holiday season, is a most joyful way to remember them.
The memorial service will be held in the sanctuary, followed by a joyous tree lighting ceremony in the lobby of the church. Each of the lights on the tree celebrates a life and will be on display the night of the ceremony.
